ISLAMABAD: The colourful ceremony of ‘Second Chairman POF Wah Flood Lit Tape Ball Cricket Tournament’ was held at Oval Cricket Ground under the auspices of POF Sports Control Board. Tabassum Rehman, DICR and member POF Board, was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony.
The chief guest inaugurated the tournament by hitting the ball thrown by POF Sports Control Board President Dr Aamir Murad.
The opening match was played between Lala Rukh Mighty and Haider Lions.
Haider Lions scored 56 runs with the loss of seven wickets in six overs while Lala Rukh Mighty achieved the target with the loss of one wicket. Atif Butt of Lala Rukh Mighty scored 26 runs on 19 balls while Farooq of Lala Rukh Mighty scored 18 runs on 12 balls.
These two players of Lala Rukh Mighty scored best and got victory for Lala Rukh Mighty.
The second match was played between Sheeraz Eleven and Hafeez Club in which Sheeraz
Eleven scored 69 runs with a loss of seven wickets while Hafeez Club was all out at a score of 53 runs with the loss of four wickets.
Sheeraz Eleven won this match with 17 runs, whereas the third match was played between Danger Mighty and Young Fighters. Danger Mighty scored 37 runs with a loss of four wickets in six overs while Young Fighters achieved the target with a loss of one wicket in two overs.
The 32 teams hailing from Wah Cantt, Rawalpindi, Attock, Haripur and surrounding areas are participating in this tournament, which will continue till August 14. The final match will be held on the eve of Independence Day. A large number of POF officers, POF employees, their children and young cricketers witnessed the inaugural ceremony.
