CHARSADDA: Awami National Party-Wali (ANP-W) Chairperson Begum Nasim Wali Khan on Sunday urged the politicians and other stakeholders to not to politicise the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as the project could change the destiny of the region.
Speaking to journalists after a briefing by the CPEC committee at Wali Bagh in Charsadda, Begum Nasim said the project was a game-changer for the country particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She stressed that politicisation of the
billion dollars economic project would not do any good to Pakhtuns.
However, she urged the stakeholders to make the project a success. She also said that it was high time to raise the issue at every forum with arguments and facts.
Begum Nasim maintained that her party would continue efforts for the rights of the Pakhtuns. She added she would follow the path of Bacha Khan and Wali Khan.
She went on to say that both the legendary leaders Bacha Khan and Wali Khan had warned the country’s establishment of the consequences of becoming a part of the Afghan war but they were branded as traitors.
“Pakistan’s security establishment is responsible for terrorism in the region,” she claimed. These leaders had rejected the term jihad for the Afghan war and claimed that it was a struggle for power, but the security establishment did not pay heed to their advice.
She expressed concern over the issuance of a statement by the Chief of Army Staff over all national issues, saying that the Army Chief should do his job and let the parliament take decisions about national issues. Commenting on the closure of the Pak-Afghan border, she said that the border had not been sealed by the British Raj despite their weilding enormous power. She remarked that Pakistan’s security establishment could not seal the border.
